Spain

Built for Spanish businesses, not translated for them.

The name comes from here: negocio plus track — tracking the health of your business. Spain is not a secondary market for this product. It is half the reason it exists.

What is different here

An autónomo does not have the problems a company with staff has.

Most small Spanish businesses have a website — many of them launched with a grant — and almost none has anybody checking whether it works. The site exists, it is paid for, and nobody has opened it since the day it went live.

Meanwhile the Google listing, the reviews and local search do nearly all the work of bringing customers in. That is where the margin is, and it is the least-checked part of the picture.

  • The grant-funded website, a year on

A subsidised site satisfies the paperwork, not the business. It is worth knowing whether it loads quickly on mobile, says what you do, and lets someone get in touch without phoning.

  • The listing decides local

For a clinic, a garage or a restaurant, the Google listing brings more customers than the website. Verified, correct primary category, current opening hours: that is most of it.

  • Province and postcode, not country

You compete in your city and sometimes in your neighbourhood. Positions are checked from points across your area, not against a national average that means nothing locally.

  • Reviews in Spanish, read in Spanish

Themes are drawn from the text as written. Translating reviews in order to analyse them loses exactly the nuance that makes them useful.

Worked examples

Four businesses, four different first problems.

The same product, reading the same signals, reaching conclusions that have nothing in common.

A Madrid clínica

Healthcare · one location

Good rating, strong visibility, few appointments actually booked.

What NegoTrack would find

Booking is by phone only, and more than half of visits arrive after seven in the evening. The listing hours and website hours also disagree.

First recommendation

Add a booking route that works out of hours, and align the two sets of hours.

A Málaga restaurante

Hospitality · city centre

Excellent reviews and a conspicuously quiet Sunday.

What NegoTrack would find

The listing says closed on Sunday. The website says open. People check the listing.

First recommendation

Correct the listing hours before anything else.

A Valencia electricista

Trades · travels to customers

Steady work by word of mouth, almost nothing from online.

What NegoTrack would find

A home address is publicly visible on the listing, which breaches the rules for service-area businesses, and no page covers emergency call-outs.

First recommendation

Hide the address, set the service area, and write the emergency page.

A Barcelona estudio

Professional services · office based

A beautiful website and no inbound enquiries.

What NegoTrack would find

Six pages show work and none states what service is being sold or from where. The listing is unverified.

First recommendation

Verify the listing and name the services on the first screen.

Demonstration businesses. These are invented examples, not NegoTrack customers, and the findings are illustrative.

Availability

Where Spain stands today.

Spain is one of two launch markets, alongside the United Kingdom. The Spanish guides are written for the Spanish market rather than translated: different questions, different platforms, different rules, and translation would produce content that serves neither language.

NegoTrack is in development and the private beta has not opened. Everything on this page is demonstration data from fictional businesses.

Questions about Spain

Is NegoTrack genuinely in Spanish, or translated?

In Spanish. The interface, the recommendations and the guides are written in Spanish for the Spanish market. The product name comes from negocio: Spain is not a translation of the project, it is half the reason for it.

I am self-employed rather than a company. Is it for me?

Yes, and probably more so. The smaller the business, the fewer people are checking whether the listing is right or the site loads, and the more each fixable problem is worth.

My website came from a government grant. What should I check?

First, whether it loads quickly on mobile data and whether the first screen says what you do and where. Then whether someone can get in touch without phoning. There is a guide covering this in the Spanish guides.

Does it analyse reviews written in Spanish?

Yes, in the language they were written in. Themes come from the original text, because translating a review in order to analyse it loses the nuance that makes it useful.
